The Evolution of Six Syllable Sin
July 2007, Jeff Smith gets a phone call from his old friend and bassist Bruce Cook asking if he would be interested in playing the drums again and jamming with his old band Jack Static with Scott Schmitt on lead guitar, Mark Schmitt on guitar and Bruce Cook on bass. “Sure, but it’s been a while” Jeff said, “don’t worry about it” Bruce replied and before the phone call ended the jam date was set for the following week.
The night of the jam arrived and Scott, Mark, Bruce and Jeff were ready and not really knowing what to expect, would this float or sink? Things went pretty well that night and Bruce, Scott and Jeff continued to practice together and working on original material.
December 2007, “Somewhere along the way we became a band” Bruce stated at a rehearsal break. No one can really put their finger on an exact date, maybe there isn’t one but it’s just the evolution that takes place over time of musicians coming together to form a band. Not wanting to ponder that question anymore the band took to the studio to record four original songs in January 2008 to post on their website sixsyllablesin.com which was just starting the construction phase at the time.
February 2008 was the official launch of sixsyllablesin.com, the band’s official website and March 2008 they launched their MySpace page and the band kept right on writing and working out new material.
May 2008 Six Syllable Sin decides to search for a person to front the band and round out their sound and after a month of searching and playing through several auditions with other potential lead singers Jodon Schinabarger walks in the door. Scott had been trying for some time to get him to audition and after he did, he had the job. Jodon brought with him not only unique voice but great song writing capability as well.
With Jodon on lead vocals and guitar, Scott on lead guitar, Bruce on bass and Jeff on drums Six Syllable Sin continues to grow, expand and evolve.
