Chickenfoot

My review thus far would be that I like everything but the ballads.  And I'd tell you the names but I can't get my CD to the proper temperature to read it( if its cold the artwork turns dark, if its warm the artwork lightens up and you can read it).  My top picks are "Get it Up"  and " My Kinda Girl", I didn't like Down the Drain but the more I heard it the more I like it.  And I've heard the cd!!! allot!!!  I've been playing this since I got it.  I've never tried so hard to like a cd and in the end it was easy to like.  The first time I heard it I liked every song on it, after the honeymoon was over I really started listening to it and here is what I think.   Your not gonna go wrong with anyone in this band, everythings there, Joe gets a nut in a few solos, but it's hard to listen to this and not think of EVH.  Joe is soooo melodic, smooth and tasteful in what he puts into his songs.  Eddie is likewise as melodic, but much more bombastic and rogue.  Eternally cool to hear Mikey sing background vox, the best part of this cd is listening to Hagar and Anthony sing together, his bass playing is whats missing from new music today.  Motown meets Cream.  Chad Smith is probably one of the best groove drummers out there, the unsung hero(again), It was Chad who was able to stand toe to toe with Flea from RHCP and take that rhythm section to the next level   And Sam I Am.  What the hell....will this guy ever run outta material about partying???? I THINK NOT!!!!  However at this point I've grown accustomed to singers like M Shadows A7X, David Draiman Disturbed, Jonathan Davis Korn, Layne Staley AIC, so Sammy’s vox are sometimes taxing for me.  The high pitchy thing bugs me after a whole cd.  That being said, I would never think that any of the names I dropped would be a better vehicle for the music than Hagar, he's (as always) perfect for a band like this.  Its just great party music and if you put this on at a party people will dig it.  The tracks I mentioned are my favorites but don't ignore any of 'em!!!  Soap on aRope, Sexy Little Thing, Oh Yeah.  Turnin' Left, has an Mad Anthony/Smith groove that crushes, and ya can't beat the harmony exchange between  Sam & Mike.

I hope this has been a helpful tool in deciding on what you should like and what you shouldn'tlike/////////

Chris Cornell - Scream

This is not the Chris Cornell stuff we’re used to.  Most of it is sampling and hip-hop beats.  But have u ever been in a situation were hip-hop is being played in the background and thought this is all right but I hate the rapping over it.  Well look at it that way.  Take the ONE hip hop song u actually thought was cool, .....but......what this song need is Chris Cornell.  However, Don't forget Cornell has one of the best set of pipes regardless of the genre of music he's singing and don't forget his knack for hooks.  Speaking of hooks, there are hooks a plenty, and just cool songwriting.  Near the end of the cd there seems to be more guitar, bass and drum mix but the order of the day is sampling.  My opinion is he's someone is not going to be nailed down to a genre, he'd probably kick ass at whatever he decided musically.  Something to clarify is: by using the word sampling I don't mean sampling other peoples music this is most likely all done with keyboards and triggers.  It reminds a bit of the type of music Peter Gabriel would write weird but melodical.  You can get on his myspace page and listen to the whole album for free, you don't need to be member of myface or spacebook or whatever it is.
